How we measure

This preview publishes source-backed records. It does not rank unlike numbers. The proposed wealth-given ratio waits for compatible inputs.

This edition

Source-backed preview profiles, not a published ranking. Do not numerically compare foundation grants, endowment market value, and individual gifts without attribution, transaction reconciliation and an explicit methodology. These records are evidence examples.

No consistent same-date personal net worth evidence assembled for this preview; percentages intentionally withheld.

No verified personal private impact investments assembled for these preview profiles. Unknown is not zero.

No current-2026 annual totals verified. Historical dated reporting only.

One currency for comparison

Shared lists and profile summaries use USD, including the India preview. Original amounts and currencies stay in evidence details. Decimal arithmetic is used. Prefer a source-reported USD figure. If payment dates are unknown, a labeled reporting-date approximation may appear for directory display only. It is not a transaction-date ranking input.

Proposed primary metric (not live)

Documented wealth given = G / (G + N), where G is sufficiently complete, attributable, completed lifetime irrevocable charitable transfers counted once, and N is a sourced remaining net worth after those gifts, at the same cutoff. Missing inputs produce no ratio. Invalid inputs go to review. Never pair a pre-gift wealth estimate with gifts already included in it.

What we keep separate

Personal transfers, foundation grants, foundation endowment values, corporate CSR, family totals, and promises are different. A gift to a foundation and that foundation’s later grants are one capital flow: count the personal transfer once and show onward deployment separately. The Giving Pledge is a commitment, not proof of payment. Joint gifts stay joint unless individual attribution is documented.

Nilekani USD display

The ~$10.4M figure is an approximate USD equivalent of prior INR 850,000,000 IIT Bombay grants, using the ratio implied by IIT Bombay’s 20 June 2023 announcement (INR 3,150,000,000 ≈ USD 38,500,000). Prior payment dates are unavailable. The original evidence and calculation remain on the profile. The separately announced new contribution is not counted as paid here without reconciliation.

Giving-share rankings, annual intensity, private-impact tabs, badges, and signed verification pages are Phase 2.
